Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Highlights DEWA's Sustainability Efforts



World Future Energy Summit, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will be taking part in four panel discussions. The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) is hosting an event from April 16–18, 2024, with the goal of acceleration growth.

At its booth in Hall No. 5 (Energy Hall) of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), DEWA is also exhibiting its major projects and innovative efforts in sustainability, renewable energy, and clean energy.

It further strengthens our strategic alliance with Masdar. Our combined efforts result in the development of creative projects and solutions that strengthen the UAE's position as the world leader in sustainability and the switch to clean and renewable energy sources. We also offer top-notch forums for the exchange of best practices and experiences, as well as for showcasing the newest innovations and investment opportunities in the clean and renewable energy industry "DeWA's MD and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, stated.

This underscores the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which mandate that by 2050, all power in Dubai must originate from renewable sources," Al Tayer continued.

Mohamed Abdulkarim Al Shamsi, Chief Officer Climate Change and Sustainability at DEWA, will be taking part in a panel discussion titled "Navigating a low carbon pathway to a just energy transition" on the first day of the World Future Energy Summit 2024. In accordance with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050, Al Shamsi will highlight DEWA's sustainability efforts and the shift towards clean and renewable energy sources.

Dr. Hesham Ismail, Senior Manager, Technology Advancement and Demonstration at DEWA, is attending the Green Hydrogen Summit on the opening day of the World Future Energy Summit. Dr. Ismail will discuss the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park's experimental Green Hydrogen Project run by DEWA. In the MENA region, this is the first project of its kind to use solar energy to manufacture hydrogen. The pilot project was planned and constructed to support test platforms and potential applications for a range of hydrogen usage, such as energy production and transportation. Electrolysis is the primary method used to produce green hydrogen from renewable energy sources.

Athbeh Al Shehhi, Senior Engineer, Climate Change and Sustainability at DEWA, will take part in a panel discussion under the Youth 4 Sustainability platform on the third day of the World Future Energy Summit. In addition to strengthening the UAE's position as a leader in climate action, Al Shehhi will draw attention to DEWA's initiatives to empower Emirati youth and develop their potential as the next wave of sustainability leaders.
